Rules & Expectations
- The Journey Center is located in room 307 on the 3rd floor of the Lincoln Center at 415 North 30th Street.
- Students are not permitted to park in the Lincoln Center parking lot. Students who drive themselves are required to find parking elsewhere. Non-metered parking is available north of 6th street.
- Students under the age of 16 must be escorted in and out of the Journey Center by their parent or guardian.
- Students are to arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. unless prior arrangements have been made with the Center manager.
- Tardiness is not allowed. Any student who arrives after the allowed time will be required to reschedule the following day.
- Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. Parents and guardians must come to room 307 to pick up their student.
- Students must complete Journey Center assignments prior to completing any other school work. This includes 3rd Millenium courses as well as personal accountability forms in which the student is required to take responsibility for their actions that resulted in their placement at the Journey Center.
- Computer games are not allowed at any time.
- Music is not allowed at any time.
- YouTube is not allowed at any time.
- Sleeping in the Center is not allowed. Students who put their head down or fall asleep will be assigned an additional day.
- Talking to other students in the Center is not allowed.
- Students must complete all of their assigned time at the Journey Center prior to returning back to their neighborhood school. Absences can be excused for documented professional visits, court appearances, and other emergencies on a case by case basis. Parents will need to give advance notice to the Journey Center manager of any instances of tardiness or absences due to appointments.
- All students are searched with a metal detector upon entry and their possessions are inventoried and secured for the day.
- Lunch is provided; however, students may bring lunch from home and it will be stored in a classroom refrigerator. No gum, candy, or liquid containers (other than water bottles) are allowed.
- Students violating district disciplinary policies and/or committing illegal acts while attending the Center may be assigned additional days in the Center. Violations of any applicable laws will be reported to the police department.
- For the safety of staff and students, video surveillance equipment is used.
- Students may not have cellphones, iPods, headphones, or any other electronic devices while at the Center.
- Hooded sweatshirts and jackets with hoods are not allowed in the Center.
