Principal's Message

Dear Washington Families,

I am so looking forward to 2021 - 2022! We have endured together a worldwide pandemic, unchartered territory for all of us, and I am incredibly grateful and proud of our district’s commitment to our students, staff, and families. We have had to make many difficult decisions, and navigate a tense, complicated climate. Our focus at Washington Elementary has been unwavered through it all - we remain committed to providing the best possible school experience that is rigorous, engaging, safe and provides continued progress and success for all of our students and staff.

We have definitely felt the impact of school closure, quarantine, increased absenteeism, and restricted cohorts and learning environments. We have significant work to do to close the academic gaps, build emotional security, and continue to move forward in how to best provide learning, growth and progress despite the challenges presented by Covid.

This year we are excited to re-energize our culture and climate, build our House System and have our Wolfpack reconnected and working together. We have an amazing, engaging school year planned and look forward to getting back to what has transcended our school into an environment of academic success and growth, a place where students, families and staff feel safe, valued and high expectations are the norm.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as principal of Washington Elementary. It has been an honor to be part of this school community. Please feel free to call or stop in if you have any questions or concerns that you would like to discuss. Again, thank you for your continued support as we embark on this new school year!

Sincerely,

DeeDee Larsen, Principal
