Learning through and about the arts enriches the experience of school as well as preparing students for life after school. Fine Arts subjects encourage self-expression and creativity and can build confidence as well as a sense of individual identity. Music and art have similar benefits—increased motor skills, decision making, inventiveness, and improved academic performance. In addition, the arts transcend societal barriers like language, connecting people who may share few commonalities. As human beings, we thrill to the excitement, joy and fun that the arts bring to the experience of learning, teaching and growing.
