UPDATED FOR 2025-2026!

Article II, Section (3) of the MHSA Handbook requires that a physical exam must be completed for a student to be considered eligible for participation in an Association contest. Physical exams must be completed prior to the first practice. This examination must be certified by a licensed medical professional acting within the scope and limitations of his/her practice. 

• Physical examinations conducted May 1 and thereafter are valid for the following two school years; physical examinations conducted prior to May 1 are valid only for the remainder of that school year and the following school year. An interim history form is required during the off years when no physical examination is conducted and must be submitted to the school prior to the first practice.
• All 9th graders must have a physical after May 1st of the year they enter high school, regardless of whether they had one in 8th grade.

This MHSA pre-participation form is the only form that will be allowed for the student’s exam (no other forms will be accepted).

The following process should be followed:

• Parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and their student will fill out the History portion of the form together.
• The student and parent/guardian will sign the form.
• A medical provider will review the form with the student and parent/guardian and perform the exam. A signature from the medical provider is required to clear the student for participation.
• Please turn in the completed MHSA Pre-participation Physical Exam form to your school office.

Dates for the school year are the first day of practice until the last day of a state tournament or championship game. Check with your school for specific try-out and practice days and times.

- Football - 7th & 8th graders - A team and B team placement made by coach evaluation
- Cross Country - 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
- Softball - 6th, 7th, and 8th graders - A team and B team placement made by coach evaluation

An individual adult pass entitles the person named on the pass admittance to most Billings Public School activities. It is not valid for post-season games, including play-off games and divisional or state tournaments. An individual adult pass may be purchased at Senior, Skyview, and West high schools and also at the district activities office which is located at 1470 Industrial Ave (across the street from Fireside Lanes).

A Family pass entitles the family named on the pass, which includes 2 parents and any children 8th grade and under, admittance to most Billings Public School activities. High School students are not included in a family pass and must buy their own activity card. Passes are not valid for post season games, including play-off games, divisionals or state tournaments.

​Family passes may be purchased at Senior, Skyview, and West High schools and also at the district activities office which is located at 1470 Industrial Ave (across the street from Fireside Lanes).

High school activity passes entitle the high school student pictured on the pass admittance to most Billings Public School activities. The pass is not valid for any post season games including, play-off games, divisionals, or state tournaments.

Billings Public Schools is pleased to offer a free life-time pass to any resident of Yellowstone County who is age 62 or older. The pass entitles the person named on it admittance to most Billings Public Schools activities. It is not valid at any post season games, including play-off games, divisionals, or state tournaments. The Golden Age pass is available at Senior, Skyview, and West high schools and at the district activities office which is located at 1470 Industrial Ave (across the street from Fireside Lanes). The person requesting a Golden Age pass must present a valid ID showing they live in Yellowstone County and are age 62 or older.
