Welcome to Technology
Director: Kyle Brucker
Billings Public Schools is home to one of the largest computer networks in the state of Montana. Students have high speed, fiber optic access to academic resources, digital learning systems, library catalogs and Web 2.0 tools. Parents and guardians with access to the Internet can log on with a personal pin to check student attendance, assignments and grades using PowerSchool for Parents. Staff members use technology to plan lessons, take attendance, track grades, and most importantly, to teach.
We believe students must use technology effectively to live, learn and work successfully in an increasingly complex and information rich society.
Students will be provided with the necessary technology and research skills for accessing, analyzing, and organizing information as well as creating new knowledge. They will be provided with opportunities to work cooperatively on authentic, large scale problems, to develop diverse communication skills and to collaborate beyond the walls of the classroom.
To accomplish this, we must provide teachers with access to current technologies, training and support, so that they can, in turn provide opportunities for students to become active participants in their own learning - to think, solve problems, and interact in collaborative and interdisciplinary settings using technology.
At Billings Public Schools, we are dedicated to using technology as a tool to improve the education of children in our community and prepare them to be future leaders of the ever-changing global community.
The Billings Public Schools Technology Plan is part of the District's Five Year Plan. It is reviewed and updated annually by the Technology Advisory Panel.
