SD2 Receives Award of Financial Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Billings Public Schools by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The award represents the significant effort that SD2 has made to increase the transparency and understanding of its budget to the public.
SD2 Teacher, Courtney Niemeyer, Recognized Billings Public Schools teacher, Courtney Niemeyer, is being honored by the Montana Association of Presidential Awardees Planning Committee for her excellence in Math and Science teaching. As one of two state finalists, she is being honored in Helena November 7th. Her hard work and commitment to her profession is reflected in her classroom work and we are fortunate to have her working with our Billings students. Superintendent Jack Copps noted the significance of the recognition on both the state and the national levels. Congratulations Courtney!
Maintaining Our Facilities: Meeting the Needs of Our Students Billings Public Schools is studying the highest priority facility needs
through the creation of 3 community-led facility task forces. These 3 task
forces, populated with parents, neighbors, staff and community members are
examining the existing facility needs of Broadwater and McKinley Elementary
Schools as well as the need for an elementary school in the western portion
of Billings, commonly referred to as Cottonwood.
